A Letter From the Principal

Hello Thiriot Families,

My name is Shalynn Tinkel, and I am truly thrilled and honored to be principal of Joseph E. Thiriot Elementary School. The 2023-2024 school year will be my 15th year as an educator and my 4th year in Clark County School District.

My husband, Matt, and daughter, Miley, and I are originally from Indiana. I grew up in a very small town that only has one stop light and no fast food restaurants! We moved to Las Vegas in 2019 and quickly grew to love the Golden Knights, hiking at Red Rock, and exploring new restaurants.

I am excited to learn all about the Thiriot school and community. I am committed to working with the entire staff to enhance student learning and support their social emotional needs. It is my belief that when discussing education, Maslow (students’ basic needs) comes before Blooms (the educational process). I work to establish relationships with the entire community and make each building I work in a safe and caring place to be. Only when we are successful in creating a warm and welcoming environment can we truly reach each student academically.

Attendance

CCSD Policy 5113 states that students enrolled in District schools must attend regularly in accordance with the Nevada Revised Statutes. When a child is absent from school, a NOTICE from the parent or guardian must be sent OR submitted to school within 3 days of the child’s return.
